The curriculum is designed so that students can fulfill the Education Specialists program requirements in school psychology after three years of full-time coursework, and one year of internship.
The program requires 73 semester hours for the degree which includes a 1,500-hour supervised internship.

Be sure to check departmental schedules before attempting to register since some courses may not be taught each year, faculty may be on sabbatical or times/semesters may change. Also, certain courses may be taught in the summer, including SPED 6040. Note that courses taught outside the Ed Psych department may be changed w/o our prior notice.
Note:
- Students completing specialized grant training will be required to enroll in additional seminars or courses associated with goals and objectives of each grant activity.
- Students who are planning to seek admission into a doctoral program in School Psychology,
including our own, should meet with the Director of Training to discuss plans and
adjustments to course requirements, including enrollment in more advanced statistical
methods.
Practice and Research Sites
University of Utah Educational Assessment and Student Support Clinic (Psychoeducational clinic)
Located in BUC (Business Classroom Building) on the University of Utah campus, includes faculty offices, student work areas, clinical office/research areas and classrooms which are set up for audio/video supervision and training activities.University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI)
Includes in-patient and out-patient training experiences for practica and internships, providing experiences with various psychiatric, medical, and behavioral disorders in children, adolescents, and adults (including depression, conduct disorder, neurological impairments, obsessive-compulsive disorder, neuroses and psychoses, and other disorders).
UNI Neurobehavior HOME Program
The Neurobehavior HOME program is a coordinated health care model and center of excellence for meeting the medical and mental health needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities. They provide services to children and adults including primary care, psychiatric services, medication management, counseling services, positive behavior supports, interdisciplinary assessment and treatment of pediatric feeding disorders, and case management.Carmen B. Operated by Valley Behavioral Health, the center is a successful example of a private/public partnership. It provides behavioral and educational services to students by conducting and supporting research into the cause(s) of autism and its eventual cure. Licensure Information
Upon completing the program, students are eligible to apply for State licensure as a School Psychologist. This process must be initiated by the student. Applications are available form the department's administrative assistant. Licensure is granted through the Utah State Office of Education. The majority of students who complete degrees in School Psychology apply for this license, in fact, this is required if students want to work in Utah schools.
