Step-by-Step Application Instructions
Please note: We suggest beginning the application process at least one month prior to the application deadline to ensure that any problems that may occur can be resolved quickly.

Begin application
Complete a Graduate Application for the University of Utah.
- Submit separate applications for master's and Ph.D. programs
- Application fee: $55 (domestic), $65 (international)
- Required sections: Personal Background, Additional Personal Information, Academic Program, Residency for Tuition Purposes, Academic History, Prerequisite Coursework, Test Scores, Additional Materials, Recommendations, Disciplinary Information, Signature, and Review.

List desired emphasis
Specify your emphasis after listing Educational Psychology (e.g., Counseling Psychology Ph.D., CMHC, School Counseling).
For Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling:
- Submit one application for both Salt Lake and St. George and email your interest.
- Indicate a SUMMER start for St. George programs.

Add required documents
- Transcripts: Upload unofficial, scanned images.
- GRE Scores (if applicable): Take the test at least one month before applying. Scores must be sent to the University of Utah (Code 4853) by ETS.
- Curriculum Vitae/Resume: Submit a detailed CV.
- Personal Statement: Describe career goals in 1-2 pages. Identify potential research mentors for doctoral programs.
- Recommendations: Provide 3 letters of recommendation, with at least two from academic institutions.
- Optional for Ph.D. applicants: Submit a writing sample.
